STEP 1, PREPARATION: CHOOSE A GAME

I recently spoke with a famous indie game developer, known mostly in the Game Maker category of indie gaming, Ted Lauterbach. Now, some of you might know him as his nick name, Rotten_Tater, and is famous for making the VISIT series, Super Space Rogues, and Fetus, along with a few more of his less known games. We will be using his game Visit I for the strategy guide project, and Ted has been put in a nice spot - he barely has to do any work and gets tons of credit in the project. Thats good for him, but bad for all the other people on the team (me).

The conversation happened 2 days ago, on Monday, September 20th. I like to keep track of dates, that way when we get put on wikipedia (lol) we will have a detailed page. Anyway, we got all the basics done and thought up some great ideas. One of them was the point of even selling a strategy guide for a free indie game. Why would someone pay for it if you can get the game for free? We came up with some solutions, one of them was that you could have a donate button on your site and anyone that donates $(insert amount) to you can get a special edition strategy guide for their favorite games. Probably more known games made by people like Ted Lauterbach (Rotten_Tater), Matt Thorson (Matt Makes Games), Jesse Venbrux (2Dcube), Andrew McCluskey (NAL) and Andrew Brophy (Andrew Brophy).

Don't know what VISIT is?

STEP 1, PREPARATION: CHOOSE A GAME

The games that might get a strategy guide made for them are on the front page. For those of you too lazy to go there after coming to this page, I will post them for you. But then again I'm feeling kind of lazy...

    Anyway, here's the list:

  • Ninjammin' Beat-Jitsu

    Genre-bending Rhythm-action Platformer

  • Dubloon

    Genre: RPG

  • Karoshi

    Genre: Platformer

  • Solid

    Genre: Action RPG

  • Visit

    Genre: Puzzle/Platformer

  • So far I've talked to Banov about Dubloon and Rotten_Tater about Visit. Those ones are definitely possible to be strategy guide-ized. Don't you love new words?

If you want to vote on the game that gets chosen, please comment in the box below. Thank you

I'm going to make a strategy guide. While I make it, I want to help others at the same time if they want to make a guide for either their favorite game or their own game. If you do it for a game you didn't create yourself you might have to contact the creators to get permission.

Anyway, while I create my own strategy guide for a game I'm developing called "Heaven of Eleven", I will post outlines and day to day plans to work on for you. I will probably update on a weekly basis, so hang in there and we will start making a strategy guide!
